Howl at the Moon was a pub in Dublin on Mount street, across from the national maternity hospital. The artwork was commissioned by Capital Bars in 2016. There were eight doors made in total specifically made to take 6×6 inch tiles. All are made from ceramics. The 9ft tall doors were solid teak doors. I made over 1200 tiles, all of which were based on 6 unique subject pieces.
The finishing coat on the tiles was a bronze metallic glaze. It was a tedious but satisfying project. It was also very unique. They added character to the space, which evoked thought and conversation. Howl at the Moon was permanently closed in 2021.
